INTRODUCTION
TAQTON is a dynamic board game for 2–4 players where strategy meets unpredictability. Each player controls 3 pawns and aims to guide them into their Q Zone (Safe Zone), using movement, decision-making, and elements of chance.
At first glance, the rules are simple — move across the board and reach your goal. In practice, however, every game evolves through cards, player interaction, and special fields that can completely change the situation. TAQTON is a game that’s easy to return to — but hard to play the same way twice.
ZIP & PLAY – GAME FORMAT
TAQTON uses the ZIP & PLAY system, designed for mobility and instant setup.
The set is built around two elements made from durable fabric:
- ZIP Board — a fabric game board (6×6)
- ZIP Tray — a foldable tray for dice and components
The ZIP Tray is stored inside the ZIP Board, forming a single compact unit. Zippers secure all components and keep everything in one place.
Game setup is instant: open → take out → unfold → play
This is the core idea of ZIP & PLAY. The fabric construction makes the board flexible, durable, and easy to transport. For the best gameplay comfort, it is recommended to place the board on a flat surface. The ZIP Tray stabilizes dice rolls, limits movement, and reduces noise, creating a controlled play area. The board can be easily cleaned and gently flattened if needed. ZIP & PLAY allows you to start playing in seconds — wherever you are.
PHILOSOPHY
TAQTON is built on a simple principle: movement, decision, and unpredictability work together. The game is designed to:
- be easy to start
- require conscious decisions during play
- maintain tension through player interaction
- introduce variation through cards and special fields
The key element is the balance between control and chance. Players can plan their moves, but must react to what happens on the board — especially the effects of the “Q” field and the cards. Every decision matters, and every game unfolds differently.

RULES
Objective and Winning
The goal of the game is to move all 3 of your pawns into your Q Zone (Safe Zone). The first player to do so wins.
Entering the Game
To enter the game, a player must roll an odd number. The pawn is placed on the starting field marked with the player’s color and three dots. From this point, movement continues clockwise around the board.
Pawn Movement
On their turn, a player rolls the die (1–6) and moves one chosen pawn forward by that number of spaces. The player may move any of their pawns currently on the board.
Entering the Q Zone (Safe Zone)
To enter the Q Zone, a pawn must complete a full lap around the board. Entry is made through the starting field and requires an exact roll. If the required number is not rolled, the pawn does not move. A pawn cannot continue another lap if it is in a position that allows entry into the Q Zone. Exception — the “Q” field: If a pawn lands on the “Q” field before entering the zone, it is teleported forward to the next space, skipping the chance to enter the Q Zone and beginning another full lap.
Capturing Pawns
If a player’s pawn lands on a space occupied by an opponent’s pawn, the opponent’s pawn is sent back to its starting position. Capturing also applies on starting fields. If an opponent’s pawn is on your starting field and you enter it with your pawn, the opponent’s pawn is captured and returned to their start.
Collision of Own Pawns
Two pawns of the same player cannot occupy the same space. If a player must end their move on a starting field already occupied by their own pawn, one of the pawns is removed from the board. To re-enter that pawn into the game, the player must roll an odd number again.
SPECIAL FIELDS
“Q” Field: The “Q” field introduces unpredictability. If a pawn lands on this field, it is immediately moved forward to the next space in the direction of play. This field becomes especially important near the Q Zone. If a pawn lands on it just before entering the zone, it is pushed forward, skipping entry and starting another full lap.
Online Card Fields — Board Corners
The four corners of the board are special fields that activate the online card system.
If a pawn lands on one of these fields:
- the player rolls the die
- based on the result, they draw a card from the corresponding category:
1 — Knowledge
2 — Twist
3 — Bright
4 — Mechanics
The player performs the action described on the card.
If the player rolls:
5 — they choose another player to draw a card
6 — after completing the card action, they roll again and perform a move
8DOODLES PLATFORM & GAME EXPANSION
TAQTON is a game that evolves over time. The online card system introduces variation and ensures that each session can feel different. Card categories, effects, and usage can be expanded and modified over time. There is no single fixed way to play. You can experiment with your own rules, pacing, and use of cards. TAQTON encourages creating your own variations and adapting the game to your style.
The 8doodles platform provides access to:
- online cards
- rule updates
- additional materials and expansions
Thanks to NFC integration, all game elements are accessible instantly — without searching for separate instructions or components. As the platform develops, new card sets, gameplay variations, and add-ons become available, which can be introduced into the game at any time.
TAQTON is not a closed system — it is a game you can grow and evolve together with other players.
