New method and form of work with students

“A conversation is growing from word to word” or rather a game. What am I writing? The word game is too shallow, does not exhaust the whole range of uses of this TOOL, which are “WORDS”. It is a “harvester” for learning logical thinking, expanding the passive and active vocabulary, stimulating creativity, stimulating motivation, or in a word, for… learning. Yes! It is an excellent didactic tool, thanks to which you can implement content that is compact in the core curriculum. Tasks and cards can be “tailored”, created to measure, adapted to a particular class, student, age and skills. We teachers must follow the world, adapt the methods and forms of work to the dynamically changing reality and the expectations of our students.

As studies show, on average, teachers speak about 70-80% of lessons. And the older and smaller class, teachers say so more. The supremacy of the teacher’s monologue leads to the development of specific types of relationships, focused primarily on the creation of feudal roles and facilitating the teacher to speak and control passing of knowledge. In addition, teachers using only the lecture do it according to a specific model:

  1. at the beginning there is an introduction,
  2. then the teacher is waiting for students’ answers,
  3. to finally evaluate this answer,- which makes the pedagogical message even more predictable, and the lesson tiring and insipid.

It is therefore worth taking the bench and the lecturerism to the archive! We teachers must follow the world, adapt the methods and forms of work to the dynamically changing reality and the expectations of our pupils. The didactic process can not be broadcast – kids should “take the school into their own hands”! Games are a simple and effective way to “dust out” boredom from the classroom, to make the teaching process more attractive and stimulate students’ motivation!

No bells, no patterns, no borders for learning, with a smile, energy and ideas. This is how we imagine education in No Bell and we teach so too, that’s why the board game “Words” has permanently entered the repertoire of forms of work with youth in our school.
